In July South Ward Promise Neighborhood through the BRICK Education Network, and The City of Newark in partnership with the Victoria Foundation, donated Chromebooks to senior
citizens in Newark. The 175 Chromebooks were given to help senior citizens remain involved, engaged, and communicative with colleagues, and family after the pandemic had restricted
access. Jennifer Downer, a senior of the Nellie Grier Senior Citizen Center, said she is happy that Chromebooks were given, “I enjoy the zoom program. I learned a lot from Spanish to
arts and crafts and even exercising, so this will help me continue being active every day and not doing nothing.”
