South Ward Promise Neighborhood Promise Mentor

Promise Success is a K-12 initiative housed within the South Ward Promise Neighborhood (SWPN), a community-based organization, to combat chronic absenteeism (missing 10% or more of school days) and improve school climate by reducing barriers to student achievement and success. In an effort to ensure all South Ward students are physically present in the 2021-2022 school year – and graduate from high school ready for college, career, and beyond – program staff will work closely with families, students, school personnel and community partners.

Position Summary:  Promise mentors (PMs) are school-based and an extension of the school culture team and attendance subcommittee. PMs will conduct individual assessments on chronically absent students to ensure students are provided with targeted interventions and strategies, such as: 1:1 support, group meetings, and home visits.
